From a ‘Raw’ cullet, i.e. a waste product mainly coming from separate waste collection to a ‘Ready-to-Bake’ cullet, i.e. a Secondary Raw Material used by glasshouses to replace natural raw materials (natural sand, soda ash, etc.).

AND ITS STORY

The recovery and transformation of glass in a plant that is continuously committed to the environment itself, optimising processes and the use of energy required for them, thus significantly reducing environmental impact.

The company Vetreco S.r.l. was established in 2010 from the joint venture of three major multinational companies operating in the production of glass packaging, Ardagh Glass Italy, Verallia Italia and Zignago Vetro, with the aim of ensuring a constant supply of MPS (Rottame Pronto al Forno) to the glass factories of the 3 groups, also enabling them to reduce the purchase of natural raw materials, extracted from quarries.

The company therefore mainly targets a market consisting of the factories of the three multinationals that originated Vetreco, but also other glass factories located in central-southern Italy.

The Vetreco plant in Supino, in the province of Frosinone, which started up at the end of 2013, is now one of the largest factories in central-southern Italy, equipped with cutting-edge technologies that make it an excellence in the sector, in terms of performance and product quality (Secondary Raw Materials), thanks to an investment of more than €20 million.

With an innovative industrial process of treatment and recovery, using the best technologies on the market today, Vetreco is able to provide customers with an extremely high quality MPS, the Ready to Bake Glass Scrap, separating it by colour: green, transparent (Flint), amber.

The plant can also produce another MPS, Glass Sand, from material with a particle size of less than 5 mm, which would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Further investments are currently underway to increase treatment capacity, further reduce waste and improve process efficiency and energy consumption.


Vetreco receives and recovers material from the separate collection of glass from around 700 municipalities in central and southern Italy,

which have a population of over 9 million.
